Bronica SQ from a Hasselblad

Hi all, I am still a newbie with my Hasselblad. Now I have started using it and starting thinking more about it. I had this thought. The Hasselblad 40mm is very expensive and people tend to say with the newer one. The Bronica SQ PS 40mm is cheap as chips by comparison. Once it gets used it also feels less guilty when you are dinging a cheaper Bronica than a Haselblad.

The Hasselblad seems affordable if it is limited to the 80mm lens or up to 150mm. The 50mm is not that bad at $300US.

What are your thoughts on this? But like I said I am still getting to grips with it, generally I am wide sweeping (color) landscape type of shooter so maybe a square format might not need the 40mm

You do not need the 40mm nor the SWC. I recommend that you consider the Hasselblad and slowly save up to by the 50mm, 80mm, and the 250mm. I hardly ever use the 150mm lens. Lenses, Parts and service are readily available for the Hasselblad.

I have the SWC, 50mm, 80mm, 100mm, 150mm, 250mm and the 500mm.

The 50mm is a nice lens, I like using it street photo and candid and with tripod architectural, gives a bit of elbow room to work with.Its sharpness and contrast surprises me. I use
the 150mm more than the 250mm , its sharp and lighter..

I have the SWC, 50mm, 80mm, 100mm, 150mm, 250mm and the 500mm.

I suppose it all comes down to budget, but don't under estimate the readily available service that can be had with a 'blad. While I love my Bronica's and will continue to use them, if I could afford to, I would switch to a 'blad in a heart beat.

If one chooses Hasselblad, then one may have to wait a little longer between buying lenses.

I shot the Bronica SQA for years and absolutely loved the 40mm, S version (cheaper than the PS version). I had the 40, 50, 80, 150 and 250. There were times the 40 was mounted on the body and never came off the whole day. Wide angle landscapes, even in square, are wonderful, you just have to get used to the square. I now shoot a RZ67 with a 50mm and the wonderful 110mm.

Get the Bronica 40 mm with a body and still have money left
The 40 mm is great glass!! It's my main lens on a Bronica SQ-B. I even use it more often than my Hassy SWC.

I have a Bronica SQ-A with a 40 S, 65 PS, 80 PS, 65 PS, 105 S, and 150 PS(?). I'd be broke if I bought a Hassy. The 40mm is a nice lens. Wide with little distortion. Amazing glass for the money. The 105mm S is friken amazingly sharp and cheap too. I'm looking for an inexpensive 180mm, though.

I almost bought a 500C with two lenses, but decided against it because I would have to sell my entire SQ-A kit to buy it.

I'd say most of my Bronica work is done with either the 80mm or the 110 1:1 macro, I've got the 50mm and the 65, but the 40 has typically been more $$$ and I don't honestly think I'd use it that much. I also have the 150 and a 2x converter, but again haven't used them much. (My last major expedition used the Yashica 124g to give some idea of where my eyes go!)
