Bronica SQ Ai camera body film back release button not working

The small buttom that releases the film back has come out on the camera body. It appears to screw back in a bit but will not then press inward far enough to release the back. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Is the dark slide in? There is an interlock via a tab on the bottom of the dark slide that prevents removing the back without the dark slide in place.

Yes, the dark slide is in. I also was able to defeat the dark slide interlock with a small jeweller's screwdriver but the back is still afixed to the camera.

There is an interlock for the back removal button. If you have a spare back look at the protrusion by the lower locking catch. I believe that you can remove the lower part of the back (the hinge & back cover will come off. There are 2 small screws holding it on. You should then be able to press the pin in the body & unlock the back.

Also, be sure the dark slide is inserted dot to dot i.e., dot on dark slide to dot on back. Mentioning this for a friend.
