Hi. Were there any aftermarket 45 degree split focusing screens make for the Bronica SQ A? I currently have the factory horizontal split/micro prism on my SQ A, but I have found I like the 45 degree split on my ETRS much better. I've seen some DIY ones on ebay that are reasonable, but would prefer to go with one all ready to go. Thanks in advance for the help.
Two years ago I bought a 45 degree split image focusing screen for my ETRSi from Rick Oleson - maybe he will make them for the SQ A too.
On his page he has only horizontal split image screens these days but it's worth a try to ask wether there are some old stocks of his 45 degree split image screens. http://rick_oleson.tripod.com/index-175.html
You should be made aware of the fact, assuming you use the Bronica metering finder, that the Beattie screens are brighter than the Bronica screens, and therefor cause the meter to misread the scene. I did testing of the ETRS screen for Jim Beattie, corroborating this effect.
You can compensate the reading by lying to the meter about the ISO, but then you have to juggle the rating vs. setting for multiple films that you might load into magazines.
Before you go too far, you might want to contact Bill Maxwell who can treat your screen, replace it, or custom make something for you. Prices run from $100 to $400. Here's his email: maxwellprecisionoptics@yahoo.com
