I just got my Bronny the other day but it came with the speed grip. However because of this it did not come with a crank film winder. I was wondering if anyone knew where to get one from or anyone would like to give me one.......please :smile::smile:

Here is a picture of the bar which you can take off.

and I'm after one of these

The flat bit which attachs to the bar should be about 1.5cm.

If anyone has one it would really really help.

Thanks

I have the same problem with my Bronica ETRs, they came with a grip and no cranks. You could probably find one on eBay.

Sometimes I use the ETR by just turning the knob on the camera. Anyone know if this is a bad thing to do?

I've removed the crank from my SQ-A because it was always getting in my way, and its easy enough to wind the camera without it. So I say just try and go without it.

Thanks, good to know. I didn't think there was anything magical about the crank but I had wondered if just turning the knob might affect frame spacing somehow.

You could also buy a speedgrip. It enables you to advance the film with the thumb and has an extra release button. They come up from time to time on Ebay or at KEH.com.

Contrary to some views above, I've never found cranks alone very easy to find- whether on eBay or anywhere else. And when they are available they sell for more than you'd expect. You could check "completed listings on eBay to verify this. If you have a Spedgrip already, is there an important reason why you want one? If so, you might find it easiest to buy a bargain body and speedgrip, take off the crank, put the speedgrip on the body and sell on as a single unit.

if your having problems, i bought the cheapest bronica body and just used it for parts, one being the crank arm

As an SQ-A owner, it occurs to me one could make a replacement that would probably suffice. Bend a piece of aluminum or brass around a mandrel to fit the attachment pin and put a rotating knob on the other end with a machine screw and a spacer. Thankfully I have one, but there's nothing particularly exotic about those cranks. Or use a fairly thick piece of aluminum or brass strip, drill through the long way at one end to fit the pin, fasten a knob on the other. It might be necessary to round off the end near the pin to permit it to swing and reverse like the originals, but that's what files are for. :D
