Just to tease a little more - Found a (120) 645 back for the Bronica SQ-A fron a national chain for just £30 + £7 p&p. You might be able to haggle them down a bit - Just watch out for the seals. The older backs often need refoaming, but it is a fairly easy job to do at home.

As cheap as the Bronica ETR series cameras and lenses go today, maybe buying an additional camera is in order for shooting 645?.

bronica film back. 6x4.5

The Bronica film back for the SQ- A 120 6x4.5 does exist. I have one in my collection. I bought my SQ-A in 1981, it is 100% mint condition and is one of my cameras I love to use. I bought the 645 film back in 1884 (used), only used it once. I have the 80mm, 65mm,and the 150mm lens's. The 80 mm lens is a wonderful lens for mug shots.

I also have 3 Hasselblads, 2 CM 500 and the 503 cx. I rate the Bronica 6x6 as an equal to the Hasselblads .

thanks

I have one if you want to buy it. I'm in London

[EDIT] I've just realised that this discussion was started almost a year ago (in January)!

Well, I hope the OP found one in the meantime, it's been ages

The last response from Bozza is kind of weird, especially considered that it looks like s/he joined the forum just to write that in this very old discussion

Oh no, sorry to hear that! if you do get a new body and need the back, contact me. I'm not desperate to sell it, but if you want to buy it, I'll be ok parting from it.

KEH is in the USA, so it's not very convenient for us folks living in the UK

I bought a 645 back from Cameraworld in London about 3 weeks ago. It was the SQAi version and cost £35. They have a good selection of Bronica stuff advertised online. I haven't seen a screen, or viewfinder mask to adapt the viewing image. I had to make a simple card mask to sit under the prism. Alex

I think the two parallel lines etched into the standard focus screen is the 645 framing.

I thought that too, but my guide book suggests that they are for 4x4 super slide format. Other available screens were etched for 35mm, but I assume there must have been one to match the 645 back. Perhaps someone has one and can confirm?

Have an official Bronica SQ-Ai system guide in front of me. A total of seven focusing screens are listed. If yo look at the "standard" screen, it will have two sets of lines for a (nominal) 4x4 format - These lines are common to all but two screens.

The two screens without the 4x4 lines are intended for use with the 135N and 135W backs so have lines for 24x36mm and 24x54mm frames.
