Bronica sold out

All I have to say is that the recent sales I've had to make (as I'm traveling abroad by backpack for the foreseeable future) of my Bronica ETRSi and SQAi systems is that I did very well - sold for more than I purchased them for two years ago. Bought both systems with lots of accessories + 3 lenses each for about $1700 USD and sold them for just over $2400. So, not too bad...for me. I'd say that yes - the market is picking up - many people I know are going forward (some back) into film after long periods of digital mayhem and are thoroughly enjoying it (and yes, bringing their upper-middle class wallets with them.)

Hopefully it'll mean a better availability of films and (finger's crossed) developing agents, ect.

I think a the SQA in particular became widely know as a great system camera bargain over.

I just picked on up a few months ago. I started cheap but should have bought a bigger kit instead. Mine came with a 220 insert and a prism finder. I then paid as much for a waist level finder and grip as I did for the test of the camera. I couldve saved a fair amount buying a fuller kit up front. The WLF took a few months to find for less the 100$. The 120 insert took a long time too.

I'm guessing the market was over supplied (tail end of people going digital and the economy) which lead to more demand.

I agree the SQ-A is a fantastic camera! I think I paid like $350 for mine from KEH. THE REAL BARGAIN IS THE Bronica ETRS and MAMIYA 645J or 1000S - these are going for peanuts and they are GREAT CAMERAS!

I've seen good prices for Bronica gear on Cameta Camera's site. The body from the Bronica system I sold recently was from them and their excellent plus rating is near mint if my purchase was anything to go by.

Just checked now out of curiosity, they have an SQ-A with a Waist Level Finder that needs a little repair, 120 Back and an 80mm S lens for $199. Not too shabby for someone who doesn't mind a little repair work.

FYI this Japanese-based outfit buys up lots and lots of classic camera

If you do a search using eBay's "advanced Search" feature for items bid on by those
eBay IDs given in the above link you will see a huge amount of merchandise that is
being bought. Much of it is not photo gear but lots and lots of it is.

There are also other similar companies doing the same thing.

It reminds me of what happened to the classic sports cars of the 1950s-60s-70s
which used to be so common here in California but are now extremely scarce. Many
were bought up by European and other foreign companies and shipped overseas.
Especially the California cars due to their relative lack of rust.

Maybe. The catch is Japan`s current economic doldrums relative to the 80s and 90s before the bubble burst in 93.Today`s bottom-feeding isn`t a patch on the wholesale hoovering-up of nice stuff in the 80s. I`m not sure Japanese domestic demand outside utterly crazed collectors is that robust to worry about.
