I posted this in the wrong thread so I'll repeat it here

Hay Bronica Group: I just took delivery yesterday of a Bronica GS-1 and 110mm macro, Prisim Finder and 120 back. The only 400 film I could find locally on quick notice was Tri-X. Not my favorite but something to run thru the camera and see if it works. I sure does. The camera came from Japan and arrived a week earlier than expected.

I have an S2a with 75f2.8 Nikkor. I love it for portraits, even with this normal lens. I crop a bit to get to rectangular. I have a 135 Nikkor but haven't tried it yet. I'd love to find a Nikkor 50mm lens for it.

I know you aren't going to want to keep that yucky old 110mm. Why don't I trade you my 100mm for it?? I'll throw in a couple of rolls of film.

I have the PS 110mm f/4.5 1:1 Macro which I use on my SQ-A, it is an extremely satisfying assembly of metal and glass, both to use, and even just to hold! Enjoy your GS-1.

I didn't say it is a wrong. I said it was not my favorite.

My favorite right now is Delta. I use 100 ASA in 4X5 and plan to test 400 ASA in 120, hopefully retaining the speed.

My choice of Delta is based mostly on grain, resolution, contrast and sharpness. My experience has brought me to this film and X-tol 1+1 in Jobo rotary processing. I make up my X-tol in 5 liter and decant into 4 Oz. bottles so when it is time to process, it simply is grabbing a bottle and pouring it into a beaker and filling the empty bottle with water and pouring it into the beaker.

To do 6 sheets of 4x5 requires 260 mL of developer and to develop 2 roll of 120 is 240 mL. So the economy is there.

Bruce, I've just started using XTOL with Delta 100 and like it a lot. May I ask what ISO you use for exposure? May I ask what is your favorite combination of film and developer in 35mm?

I shoot Delta 100 @ 100. I believe the folks at Ilford and Kodak know more about their stuff than I do and they haven't proven me wrong yet. I don't shoot 35mm anymore for a few reasons: Too many exposures on a roll and to bulk load ten shots still needs long leaders so I didn't feel any savings their; Everything about 35mm became too small for my aging fingers and eyes. If I were you I'd check out Kodak's J109 Tech Bulletin. It has everything you need to know about Xtol and you can then make changes you feel necessary. But learn the scriptures and then embellish.
