Bronica C2 Exposure Counter Issue

Hello all!

I am new to the forums and have been viewing many threads on the matter of the Bronica C/C2/S2 models. I recently bought mine from a camera store that had been there for a while and the issue was that the shutter release button is finicky but still works. This is my first Medium Format camera and I love it so far. BUT, there is an issue with the Exposure counter where it would count to 2 then stop counting exposures. Has anyone else come across this issue? I did see a couple of posts about the gears needing some machine oil around the counter but have yet to open the camera. Any help is appreciated!

Update:

I got in contact with camerawiz and he helped me determine my issue and the counter works. I guess when I first loaded the camera i did not wind it properly and probably did double exposures or didnt set my film type correctly. Either way that issue seems to be fixed.

Update to the Update:
New roll of film and it winds to One then stays there. Looks like this is an intermittent issue... I may have to open up this camera after this roll and try to fix it myself.

Machine oil is too thick for the camera clock oil or some folks recommend something called "Triflow"

Sewing machine oil is very low viscosity.
I wonder if your issue is more related to old dried-out grease?

Possibly. Problem is what kind of grease? I ha e yet to open the camera so I dont even know what id be looking at.

Generally with cameras, use as little lubricant as possible. A problem area should be identified and confirmed to be sticky before applying lubricant to anything. I sort of doubt that there is grease on the parts of a Bronica film counter - you may find grease in large moving objects like focus helicals, but not in tiny geared sections.

A PDF copy of the service manual for Bronica S2 / C with exploded diagrams is available on learncamerarepair.com. It also has a section with suggestions for the cause of some common problems. Look at it carefully.

You can save the backing paper from a roll of 120 film and use it to practice loading the camera and advancing. That way you can practice loading and run off a lot of tests of the frame counter without wasting any film.
