I've been looking at original Bronica ETR cameras (I have an ETRSi, but I'd like an original ETR too). One thing puzzles me though - they have something which resembles an "I" girder stuck to the left hand side of the camera body which is described in the manual as an accessory mount. I can't find any reference to an accessory to fit onto it, so does anyone know what was supposed to fit there?

If memory serves, I think that was for mounting old Honeywell "potato masher" style strobe units to the camera. Later Honeywell models had a separate auto sensor module that fit in the hot shoe of the Speed Grip, triggering the flash and also measuring the light from the camera position. This was so a photographer could hold the flash away from the camera with his left hand.

Ahh, that would fit, thanks! Puzzled why they dropped it from later models really, I'd have thought a simple L bracket which clamped to this and offered a cold shoe flash mount (with the sync socket for the electrical connection) would have been a steady seller.

Obviously my ETRSi has a fully functional hotshoe thanks to the speed grip, which makes life much easier!

I found this page from google search. Hope you guys are doing well.
Things changed. Now I can 3D print an L-shaped cold shoe mount and put a light meter on it when I want to travel light without grip and AE viewfinder.

@nicholasnicholas @choiliefan I think you're both misunderstanding a little. The point of the original thread was that the original ETR has a mysterious little cleat on the left side of the camera. Suzuka Lasagna appears to have 3D-printed a cold shoe that slides over that cleat. No double sided tape involved, but also one would need the 3D-print file specifically for the cleat, or print a generic coldshoe and file a cleat-shaped notch in it.

The cleat disappeared from the later models, ETRS, etc. You can see a picture of it here, the chrome rectangle marked Zenza Bronica on the left side below the shutter speed knob (link to flickr image):

For posterity here's a detail image just to show the cleat:
