I've been doing more car photography and find myself looking for a longer lens than the 200 PE. The 500/ 8 cannon appeals to me for my ETR. It's about 300 on full frame and that is a great length for compression. The problem is, I can find no examples of reviews, sample photos, etc... Anyone have any experience with one?

I had one of these for SQ-Ai. I used extension tubes to get focus down to 12 feet (lens min focus is 26 feet) If there was ever a reason for digital this is it. Mirror flop would shake this so you needed to lock up mirror. New these were 20 grand, I paid 900 and sold it to a nut for 1200. For me it was useless. But They look so COOL. Plus it gives you a reason to buy a 122mm Nikon L37c filter!
If you have the money these are nice lenses.

Well, that is huge! The ETR doesn't do mirror lock up so that would be an issue. Perhaps I keep the ETR to 200 or less and do the 300 shots with my 35mm stuff.

I own one the S version, not the white APO version. I own it for my collection. The images from my 400 & 600mm EDIF Nikkors with my FX DSLR's blows every image I ever saw from any 500mm MF telephoto away,
