Hi,

After reading along a lot, I'm posting my first question. Honestly, just hoping anyone can help...

I have relatve success with my journey into bromoil. Really enjoying it as well. Every few prints though, this staining issue comes up. It is best seen on a print, so I will show you. It is there in the sky in the upper right corner, bus also more subtly over the faces of sheep and woman.

Anyone know what this is and how to avoid it?

Thanks a -million-.

Ok. Relax. I figured it out.

I started reading (again) in old bromoil books. Then I stumbled upon the notice about how important it is to wash 'very thoroughly' after bleaching, because only the 'smallest traces of dichromate' can cause an 'overall and random tanning of the gelatin'.

oh-my...

I was dumping them straight from the bleach into the fixer.

Now, doing the "several colplete changes of water and so on" routine before fixing I am not only having no stains anymore, but also much better contrast rendition. Especially better seperation in the shadows.

Thanks everyone for thinking about a solution to this and I hope it helps anyone.

I'm glad you got it figured out. I'd like to try bromoil someday, but not until someone works out the kinks using DAS.
