Anybody knows where I can source the plastic lock ir if there is a 3d model somewhere?
Anybody has a repair manual for the Canon t2?
I have a parts camera which screen is blinking.
Want to replace the lock only?

First time I hear of a Canon T2 camera.
Does one really need a service manual to repair a back door lock? From the photos I cannot even see the fault, but can only guess on it. So far I could solve any Canon lock issues by making own parts, without a printer. Though one case of a T90 is going to be a tough one.

You did not know about Canon t2?
The best SLR and IMHO best overall camera ever made.
Better than those $5000 t2s by a lot.

The plastic lock is broken.

As said the camera is unknown to me, and I cannot see the fault for sure. But if a hook has broken off, make a new hook and glue it into place. The exact approach I cannot advise from my desk, it very much depends on design pecularities of the latch and its counterpart
.
Unless you get a spare part from a donor camera, it is a tinkerer's job depending on abilities.
Now I advise you to get a donor camera. If you find a readymade printed part, it may work. I don't know. I myself have no 3-D printer. But just making the print file would likely cost me being ignorant more time than making such part by hand.

In my original post I mentioned I have a parts camera.

But you indicated that you did not want to cannibalize it, otherwise you would not have inquired on a 3-D printed part.

In case you want to cannibalize the other sample, yes you have to decide whether to exchange the lock part, or the whole door. Some Canon SLRs got a back door that can be exchanged by employing ones fingernail. Other models need the body cover partially removed for this. It is to you then to decide which way to go.

But you hinted indeed at a serious problem for us who buy broken cameras (or cameras that turn out broken): there never is sample bad enough to be cannibalized.

The Canon Rebel T2 was also known as the EOS 300X and the Kiss 7, depending on which market it was sold into. It dates from 2004.
I don't know (can't tell from the photo) whether the problem is with the latch mechanism on the body, or on the door, and I don't know whether the door can be easily swapped, but if you are looking for another donor body with a compatible door, the other versions of the camera may be compatible.

In general to my experience with plastic locks, with a latch of hook design, it is this hook that breaks.

If it is the same part of the Rebel Ti , the latch on the back is part number CB3-0498, (Lever, Latch) and the spring that holds it is CS-2-5507-050 (Spring, Back Cover latch).

the plastic latch on the Canons is the weakest part of the design. The part also does other functions and hold the cover under tension and so it is not a simple thing to dream up.

you might find an e-bay seller who has the part, or try to find dead camera cheep that you can steal it off of. I believe that by now Canon no longer has any film camera Parts left, but you might ask them anyway.

You are the best.
exactly the information I was looking for.
now just have to try to disassemble the door and replace the latch/lock with the one from the parts camera.
you don’t happen to have any pointers on replacing it ?

I have swapped one on an Elan 7n (EOS 30 or EOS33) but the part is a bit different. (lever is on the body rather than the door. I had to remove a couple of Body panels on the Elan 7 to get at it. ) Use tweezers to unload the spring, and place it back in position. I believe that the Latch lever rides up and down on a couple of plastic bosses on the door.

I found the part for $12
I will wait and just buy cameras for around that price.
I have 3 t2 cameras:
1 in perfect condition.
1 in perfect condition but the door latch is broken
1 everything works but the screen flickers and the function button does not work. I use it permanent P.
If I can buy 5-6 more cameras I will be set for life.

you could swap the latch between those two, and keep the flickery one as a spare for other parts.
