I took delivery of an OM10 this morning that I have bought on eBay for my GF, I pressed the shutter on auto mode and it just stayed open until I put into bulb, however I decided to clean it up and then the auto mode decided to work briefly but now its died again, anybody know what this could be, all the LEDs are working correct (I have another OM10 that has always worked!)

Sounds as if the battery has just about collapsed. It's also worth giving the battery contacts a good clean that can often be a problem with all cameras.

That could be it, because Bulb generally will release an electronically stuck shutter. I'd probably try some fresh batteries first and clean the contacts, like Ian suggests.

Does this have the adapter for manually selected speeds?

Anyway, try a fresh set of batteries first and then come back and let us know what happens.

If you're using the batteries it came with, you should replace them. Let camera sit with wound shutter for a few hours then fire it. If shutter stays open, camera probably has oil on the magnet and would need a thorough cleaning. OM-10 Bulb setting is electronic (2, 2N, 2S, 4, 4T etc. are mechanical). If camera has oily magnet, B will usually not clear it. If it does, there are other problems. Also, do all OM-10 auto shutter testing with dummy test roll loaded (camera reads light off-the-film). If it works fine on B and manual (manual setting without manual adapter attached gives you 1/45th second shutter speed) then probably the asa ceramic board directly below the asa knob is bad / corroded. John, www.zuiko.com
