Hi Guys, by stupid mistake I broke of Ai indexing tab on Nikon F100 body. It's tab that connects with Ai ring on the lens to transfer f values from lens to the body.
Nikon Canada is asking $450+tax to fix it. My idea for fixing it is to try to glue back another tab on it (original one is still on the street pavement) or to buy broken F100 body and do transplant.
Are those rings with tabs interchangeable with other Nikon AF bodies (F801, F90, etc)?
Any experience with similar problem here?
Older Nikon bodies had nice metal ring and solid tab designed to lift it up and use older non Ai lenses! :-((
Prices for used Nikon F100 on ebay are high??!
Thank you in advance
Goran

For $450 you can buy another F100 body.

Or invest in G lenses.

If you hang around in APUG classified, you can find one in good condition for about $200.

KEH, EX+, for $299, ought to end up on your doorstep for less than the repair cost.

Definitely try Winball. Nikon.ca can be generous or just plain cruel on their repair charges--always a crap shoot.

Thank you Guys!!
I will be OK with repair cost in $150 range, but for $450 is no brainer! Also I send them F3 with strange random habit of firing shutter on the end of film advance. $300 + tax, estimate from Nikon. Ouch!! I was sure that F100 repair is going to be less than F3. Will talk with my regular repair guy here in Vancouver first, before contacting Winbal in Toronto.

I hope the F100 doesnt use a stupid String inside like my FE. If so hope you're good at sewing!

You may be able to pick up a parts camera or just the ring on the auction site.
Search for parts, as is or broken under the camera link. It allows you to sort by several options if you don't want to go through thousands of listings.

Thank you very much Bruce! I ordered the part!

Great, I'm glad it was correct.

Bookmark that guys website/seller page. I can't remember exactly where (probably his eBay page) but I spend almost an hour one time perusing his inventory. He has some obscure parts that can just sometimes save you.

I'm sure he has stuff that isn't listed as well so it never hurts to ask.

Good luck!
