Broke my Paterson Major Print Washer.....

Hey Folks,

So, I made a bit of a screw up tonight. I went to move my Paterson Print washer and managed to break off the outlet spigot when trying to wind off the drain hose.

Considering this thing is only a couple of months old, I am going to try and see what they say where I bought it from, but in case I have no joy, I'll have to some how glue it back on.

So I get the right adhesive, can anyone tell me what material the tank is made from?

It's most likely polystyrene, in which case any polystyrene cement should work. The original airplane cement would work since plastic models are polystyrene. You could test for solvent action in a discrete location (maybe the bottom of the washer). And check with Paterson, a lot of their stuff has a lifetime warranty.

The cement may work but I'd consider replacing the spigot. Check out aquarium supplies under repair/maintenance
for something compatible

I have sent an email to the retailer I bought it from. Hopefully they will come to the party. The problem is, its not an easy piece to replace by itself.

If I remember correctly, the Nova web site offers a glue to repair their products that are probably similar (just a guess). Not that you have to buy from them of course. Using the right adhesive is important with plastic.

I would take photos and send an email to Paterson. If you have recently purchased new, I suspect that they will replace. It may have been a manufacturing issue? Paterson enjoys a darn good reputation for quality. You should let them know, pretty sure you will find a acceptable resolution.
They can't make it right if they don't know .

I have followed the correct procedure, by Australian consumer law, and followed up with the retailer I purchased it from.

If I get no joy from them (which will be because of the supplier - I know and trust the retailer), I will contact Paterson direct.

I broke the same spigot on my used one and used JB PlasticWeld epoxy putty. After 5+ years it still holding

Yes, on the Monday after I created this post, I contacted the retailer I bought it from. Two weeks later I had a replacement one in my hot little hands. Certainly can't fault that customer service.

So, a big shout out to Total Photographic Supplies in Adelaide, the Australian distributor and Peterson!
