Awesome!

Merg, do you have any additional details about the book? Will there be a book - without prints that is available for less?

Thanks for the heads up.

Brett Weston At One Hundred

24 Black and White Laser Fultone Reproductions
144 pages
13 " x 13.75"

Prue-Publication Book & Print Set - Limited Edition of 100

$2500

That's a little steep for me right now but I'd love to see one some day. It looks like a very narrow, tight market, I wish I could be a member of that club.

Honoring someone with 2500 dollars book is good but I buy Weston and Adams books with pictures for 50 dollars. By this way they honor me.

Uhhggg, I'm glad it's being made but wish there were a lower end option - or at least a way to read the essays. I'm assuming there are essays based on the following line:
"24 Black and White Laser Fultone Reproductions 144 pages".

Thanks for the info, Merg!

I recently checked with Carol Williams and she said that at the present time they plan to only offer the book as a Limited Edition in conjunction with a print.

The book was released at the gallery December 16, 2011, on the centennial of Brett's birth. It is an elegant book, authored mostly by those who knew Brett for a very long time. It is, in every sense a tribute, with keen insights by those who knew Brett and were personally touched by the association.

It is not a book of his work, rather of the person. What is of particular interest to me, is the opportunity to read from those who knew Brett before he entered my life in 1949. Another gem of a publication from Carol Williams at Photography West Gallery.

Thanks for checking, John. I missed your post somehow.

Merg, that is great to hear it was well received by you.

If anyone finds that this book becomes available without buying a print please check in here or let me know directly. Of even if the text becomes available in digital format (or if you are willing to read it to me over the phone =P ). I am incredibly eager to read this but simply cannot afford the limited edition book.

Shawn

Shawn, as I mentioned in July, this is a limited edition of 100. There are no plans for the publisher to offer future editions. It is simply, as intended, a tribute to Brett. There is no agenda, or speculation on the part of the contributors, most of whom knew Brett for four or five decades. They speak of the man they loved, and of his impact on their lives and photography. The short list includes Richard Miller, Merle Armitage, Van Deren Coke, Ira Latour, Beaumont Newhall, Dody Weston Thompson and Art Wright.
