I have inherited a plastic zipper pouch that has printed on it "BRAUN Filter Set" and inside are some plastic pieces in the typical filter colors. But the dimensions of the pieces is 2.5 X 1.5 inches. Pretty small by any lens size unless you go back to my old folders. There is a rectangular plastic piece slightly larger than the filter size into which the filters will slide, it is marked "Sunpak". There is no apparant mechanism by which to attach the filter holder to anything. Can anybody enlighten me as to what these little filters would fit on and a name of the mounting mechanism so I can try to make the set useable?

Thanks.

Probably a filter set for an electronic flash unit. At one time it was believed that putting filters on a flash would result in many creative opportunities. Braun, Sunpak and Vivitar all seem to have included them with flashes in the 1980's. The either snapped or slid into a slot in front of the slash tube. I just threw out bunch of them... in perfectly unused condition.

They're for a Sunpak flash unit. As you have said for creative effects.
The ability to use these things and a complementary filter on the camera would allow natualish light ing on one section(fireground?) of the image and funky color in another part.

Or it might be the other Braun who made Paxette cameras. Their lenses would be smaller than 2.5 by 1.5 inches.

Both have different brand-logos. The "electronics" Braun always used their typical one.

Jim, a Sunpak filter set does not belong in Braun pouch. And both did not cooperate. You got two different items.
