I have an opportunity to buy a brand-new Mamiya 7ii and 80mm lens, still in the box. It's an online purchase. Given that Mamiya stopped producing this camera in 2014, are there potential issues with at least six years of being wrapped up in the box? The seller is not a photographer, so wouldn't be able to test it out. It's a good price, so I'm incline to make the purchase, but always worry about

I would be more worried about buying online multi-thousand dollar camera from a non-photographer. The Mamiya 7ii is a great camera, though.
