Dear photographers,

My tiny pocket computer mixed again all of us. Everybody should have a got message from me with a pair of addresses. The first block contains your own address as given to me. Please, make certain that your own address is correct. PM me as soon as possible if a correction is needed to YOUR address.
Please don't mind the numbers, I need them while "mixing" us.

The second block contains the address of your partner: You have to send your print(s) to there. Please wait a few days before sending anything to allow time for corrections. Make sure you mark your box with your name and
BPX 44
on it.

If you are unable to complete your assignment, it is understandable - life often gets in a way of our hobbies. However, it would be very helpful if you let me know so that I could change the assignment to somebody else.

If something is or seems to be wrong, please PM me.

Our timeline: Please print and send your offering till end of February 2024

How to avoid taxes / VAT:

If a sending goes outside the U.S. (or more correct: outside your country) it should be a letter, and not a parcel or similar.

Everything you simply put in the letterbox should be a letter. Anything you give at the office may induce taxes. Everything with a custom declaration will induce taxes.

Please keep in mind what "counts" as a letter in your country. In the U.S. it needs to be flexible. In Germany, it may be stiff.

I received yesterday from Uwe three nice prints:
- a large (approx 24X30cm) image of the control tower of the old Lepzig airport, done in Lith on Foma paper
- two smaller prints of mountain landscapes in Norway, regular silver prints

And they were delivered yesterday! I dropped Mark a message and he sent me the extra info.

I received three beautiful prints. The large print is called "Big Justice" was taken in front of the Supreme Court of Ohio and it shows the big hammer in the water. It was taken exactly from the front of the hammer, so you only see the head and not the stick (is that what it's called in English?). It was taken on large format and I realized this even before I got the accompanying note. Brilliantly detailed and very well printed on Ilford MG Fiber paper.

Secondly there were two postcards in the envelope.
"Shadow Study" shows the beginning of an outside staircase, and the shadows definitely make the image for me. Interesting detail is that it was printed on very old Kodak postcard paper, with the Kodak postcard marking on the back. I've never used this paper myself but given that it's very old it still prints wonderfully!

Finally there's the "Winter barn", another postcard, which shows a barn and two trees without leaves (winter ). I think it's printed on MG Pearl RC paper, at least that's what it looks and feels like.

Thank you very much Mark, I really like all three of them (they're all three strong well composed images IMO but Big Justice obviously is my favourite! )

The envelope arrived yesterday with two black and white photos inside and a very informative cover letter. I have to say that I need to improve my own cover letters because Buzz-01 didn't just provide detailed technical information, but comprehensive context about each print.The both prints are taken on Foma 200@125 film and enlarged on Ilford MGIV RC Glossy paper 7x9,5".

The first - "Overgrown" depicts a village in France. I really like the diagonal formed by the forests in the background and the roofs of the village houses. The photo is full of tones and details. Wonderfull photo and I think Buzz-01 has this photo framed in his room.
The second picture was taken on top of "Petit Mond Rond". Dramatic clouds magnified by dodge&burn technique creates impressive mood.

Today I received three fine prints from Don_ih. Don likes to take still life, and so I got two of his prints. I found it very interesting, that one of them (face of an old camera) was taken on Ansco film 70 years old! I never thought that one may use such a thing. I like the print very much. The other still life are fancy salt and pepper shakers. I like the MG IV FB paper very much.

It is a nice idea putting a street scene of Toronto in the envelope, a place near where Don lives. So I get an idea how his hometown looks like.

My wife enjoyed the prints too.

The major obstacle with that film is forcing it into a film holder, since it's nowhere near flat. Luckily, it gets flat in the holder (flat enough, anyway).

Generally, film that old is useless. For some reason, this stuff is still good (at around iso25) and is unfogged.

I'm glad you liked the prints.

It's not much of a surprise. It's just to maintain the "blind" part of the print exchange, we tend to not say to whom we are sending the prints.

There just aren't that many of us, though....

Yeah, it's not really much of a rule. All anyone really cares about is sending their prints and receiving something from someone else.

I just received two beautiful prints from bernard_L. "Hydro Powerplant" Les Vernes. Some massive heavy (really heavy) power equipment. Exposure of the machinery is perfect, and the light from the windows is not objectionable. And Bernard uses my favorite camera, the Mamiya C220 TLR. Nice fiber paper, too. Great shots, thanks Bernard!

PS - I didn't know it was me until I received the prints.

I've just put the envelope into postbox.... I thought I would be able to send it earlier, but I think I made the deadline. In addition, the envelope is not traveling across the sea this time, so hopefully it will reach the addressee relatively quickly.

Hmm. If you don't have sent anything, you aren't allowed signing next round.

Of course, you may always send something during sign up. Additional 4 weeks ...
