I have acquired 2 Bowens Mono 15000 lights, from what I am told these are between 20-30 years old.

Can anyone tell me how to mount a softbox? I have am currently using a softbox with a universal ring on a small strobe. The ring I have accepts up to 5.5 inch dia. lights, my lights are about 7 inches in dia. All the rings I see are max of 5.5 inch. I realize there are rings for Bowen's, but I believe what is available is for the newer models and smaller.

Thanks

they have all sorts of rings. look around and you might find what you are looking for. If not, call.

Chimera makes various size (universal) 'speed rings' - new ones are expensive; $100+

I have a Chimera molded plastic universal type ring that fits a 6" dia. reflector. When I look at it, I'm sure I could make one out of hard wood without too much difficulty. They're simple clamps with 4 holes drilled at the corners, the hardest part to make would be the opening in the middle. There's plenty of air space between the reflector and the ring to avoid any heat damage, I think - it depends on how hot the modeling lights get - electronic flash, no problem.
