Hi. I have just bought a nice (Lucky) Fujimoto 90 M-S, which are unusual here in the UK, I think.

The enlarger is complete but has no base. I guess I can make one but am not sure, looking at it and various images online, how it should attach.

Does anyone have a spare base or can anyone advise on the best way to fit it if I build one, please?

Thank-you

Simon

Here are photos of the base attachment:

MDF here in the states. It tends to be more stable than plywood. A laminate surface gives a nice smooth, water resistant surface. Size would be up to you but somewhere around 18X24 should work.
MY Focomat ll uses 23X27" and it's a heavy beast.
With the Bolt they're using, two layers of 3/4" glued together but it would need a notch or hole to clear the lever. Theres no reason
you couldn't use a standard bolt(probably metric) of the same length. It wouldn't need as large a hole but still would need the
washer to keep from pulling into the surface

An offcut of 38mm worktop would be ideal (depending on the length of the bolt). Four feet would raise it up sufficiently to allow the lever room to be moved. I'd perhaps suggest a plate of aluminium or steel between the bracket and the baseboard to spread the load a little.

John, Paul. Thanks for your input.

It sounds like a bit of DIY. It's a pity I've lost all such skills!

The notch to allow the lever to rotate sound like what is needed. Maybe two wood runners on each side would work? And, Paul, I think you are right about a steel plate – the enlarger is very heavy and quite tall.

A Formica laminate would be ideal but guess I can make do with plain MDF.

I found these photos of the same model with the base-board and it's clear and that the base of the column sits right on top of the board. I had seen one with four bolts through but couldn't see how it was done with my model.

I think this will take me a while to find the time. Maybe I will need to design the board and metal plate and get it cut for me.

If you find yourself over in Norfolk (the original one in England), give me a shout - Can certainly help with a steel plate, and finding a sheet of formica/MDF isn't a problem.

Paul. Thank-you for the offer! You never know. I went to the Norfolk coast with friends a few years back for a day trip. It's such a beautiful landscape.

Btw, I'd like to see the underside of the real 90M-S baseboard, if anyone out there has one.
