Book -- call for submissions: The Handmade Silver Gelatin Emulsion Print

Hi, Everyone,

I would like to invite all emulsion makers working with handmade paper to submit work (images, or images and text) for a book I am writing for Focal Press: “The Handmade Silver Gelatin Emulsion Print.”

The format of each book in the series is about 3/4 single author and 1/4 contributing authors. I am inviting anyone who is making silver gelatin emulsion paper, no matter what stage you are in your learning curve, to submit for consideration. As a matter-of-fact, I'm particularly interested in seeing the work of beginners. This is essentially a new medium. We should celebrate the exploration. Your work needn't be "perfect," and unconventional art is very welcome.

This is an opportunity to be in the first modern book devoted to handmade silver gelatin paper making, and Focal Press books are beautiful!

Handmade silver gelatin paper hasn't gotten the attention it deserves. Partly, that's my fault for focusing so much of my attention on film. What I've come to realize is that after you've got the perfect image on a piece of film, it's a really great idea to turn it into a print .

There is an extraordinary amount of potential in the medium. I'm very appreciative of the support the book's topic got from Focal Press during the proposal process.
