Daguerrotypes - Photographs by Jerry Spagnoli
I just got this book from Photo-eye. (It's also available cheaper at Amazon, but Photo-eye has signed copies.) Wow!! While I had been familiar with a few of Spagnoli's images and his reputation as the modern master of the dag, I was floored by the images in this book. There is an extensive series of close ups of parts of the body that are mesmerizing. There are also numerous urban-scapes of New York and San Francisco that are just beautiful. Jerry has received acclaim for his technical prowess and for his collaborative work with Chuck Close, but I wasn't prepared to be as awe-struck as I am with his images. The book is soft cover, but the reproductions are very, very nice. Good stuff! Joe-bob says check it out twice!!
