Robert (Bob) Dole, Senator from Kansas and presidential contender three times, died today at age 98. Yahoo News showed a picture of Sen. Dole looking quite dapper on the porch at the Capitol (Washington, DC) being photographed with a Hasselblad. We lost an honorable man and a genuine patriot.

Oh, I thought he was using the Hasselblad.

I was going to say, wow, that man must have been 100 years old! And he was, pretty much. We used to follow him everywhere he went when I worked for Common Cause. Had people on standby, as soon as we knew he was going or coming we had multiple someones at the airport or on the plane with him. It was important to get that photo op and give him the hard questions (that got fuzzy, feel good answers) if the 3 big TV channels were covering it.

People probably think most of these events are spontaneous because the reporters and camerapeople film things that way, but they're very scripted. I know nothing about Mr Dole actually, other than that his policies were not ours. Condolences to the family, he certainly led an interesting life.

What I remember is the Mainstream Media criticizing Dole for shaking hands with his left hand, while knowing full well that his right arm was useless due to WWII wound. Some things never change.

Not mainstream media, CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, MSNBC. FauxNuz and the like were the jerks that they have always been.
