Developed a roll of 120 Ilford Delta 400 this morning and the edge markings are blurry; the images themselves look fine. Can't remember ever seeing this before. Anybody know what causes this? Don't know if it matters, but film was developed with Clayton F76+ in a Paterson System 4 Universal tank.

Which camera? Is the film flat?

Harman/Ilford had a problem some time ago with the placement of edge markings on some of their film. I expect that they would want to hear from you if you see evidence of another problem with those markings.

I agree with Matt. The clarity/sharpness or otherwise of the edge markings are down to the manufacturer of the film. I am at a loss to think of a reason that might be due to your handling of the film.

Thank you, all, for your input. I agree, too, that edge markings have nothing to do with the specific camera which is why I didn't mention it. After the film was dry, I looked at it closely with a loupe on a lightbox; the edge markings look like you took an inked stamp, placed it carefully and firmly onto the film, and then pushed it a bit. At this point, I'm thinking it's a manufacturing "defect." As soon as it stops raining, I've got another roll from the same batch to shoot. I'll see if it reveals this same anomaly.
