I came across this YouTube video about the invention of blue LEDs, and in particular the story of its inventor Shuji Nakamura...

At the end of the video, he talks about UV LEDs ....

I'll be thinking of Shuji Nakamura next time I turn on my UV lamp unit

Speaking of this, can you give me a link to the type of UV LEDs you used to make an exposure box?

I see hundreds of possible strings on Amazon and Ebay, but I would rather get a direct referral from a user that is happy with their choice.

Thanks.

Not the OP, but I'll respond about UV LEDs...

I use two sets of Barrina LED bars (link to Amazon) mounted in a plywood box.

Details are in this thread... https://www.photrio.com/forum/threads/uv-bulbs-burning-out.195848/#post-2620523. (Search here with my username and "LED", this topic has come up previously in several other threads as well.)

I am mainly a salted-paper printer for which my standard exposure time is 7 min. On rare occasion I do platinum/palladium printing with exposure times about 4 min (if memory serves). Cuprotypes are 30-40 min. I don't do much cyanotype these days, but I seem to remember that, with only one set of bars, my exposure times were about 7 min.

Kino, I used some string lights that I had to solder… and solder… and.. well, you get the idea.

I’d recommend getting the bars. Only reason to go through all the trouble with the string lights is power since they can be densely packed. I’ve had cyanotypes expose in as little as 90 seconds. If you want can dig up the ones I used, but again, I’d go with the bars if I were you. Those are easy peasy. Plug them in and go.

Thanks for the practical advice, Patrick. Will take that into consideration!
