I have not used my EL/M body for some considerable time and recently decided to bring it into service. I puchased a new battery (ouch!) and gave it a full charge in the camera but when I tried the release I got nothing but a soft click from within the body. To make matters worse I attached a lens which although has located in the mount will not fully lock into place nor will it release from the body. I suspect that the body must have been mid cycle before the battery was charged but I am puzzled as to why it did not complete the cycle when the lock lever was moved to '0' position.
Can anyone advise please?

I had more or less the same problem but was stupid enough to provoke it myself by playing on the O-L-T switch, interrupting the winding-cycle. This can not be cured by the usual methods for "soft" or "hard" lockups as with the manual cameras where you can also play on the winding crank while working inside the body. As Michael said, leave it as it is and have a trained technician look at it. I did not follow this advise and paid for a complete overhaul plus some main wheels and springs in the end (ouch!).
