I just got the fresh supply of pyrogallol from my local dealer, and it was all dark, nearly black. It look as crystaline powder, but black. Being no chemist, I could not argue with the guy, who kept telling me it is perfectly all right and that it should work no prob. Did you pyro guys think I should trust it or rather demand the replacement?
Pyrogallol should be light grey (almost white) not black. I think you should sent it back.
I include a picture of mine which is almost two years old stock
I have a LIQUID PMK kit that is at least 7-8yrs new and the rim of the bottle gets dark black which I assume is from oxidation.
The liquid itself is still clearish and works fine.
You don't say how the pyrogallol was packaged. I have had problems with some developing agents packed in plastic bottles. I have had pyrogallol keep for many years in glass bottles. Some plastics allow oxygen to diffuse into the container. I would recommend getting your money back.
Dorapis, Prague, Czech Republic. Just puch it to google and you will see. I have this shop round the corner, which comes handy, though not without a downside ... .
Anyway, the matter has been concluded - I have received the replacement, which seems fine and proper.
