Black Pro-Mist Filters for Black & White

Wondering if anyone uses these filters in black and white photography and if so how do they use them, what do they hope to achieve, and are they happy with the results? ?

They would do just what they do in color photography. Used for portraits to soften details, spread highlights. I don't use them anymore, it was kind of a 90's thing.
