This beautiful Black & Nickel Leica I (model A) Camera has been Leica factory converted to a Leica II as was very common with the model I cameras. Serial # 32,068 places this model as having been made in 1930. Was factory converted likely around 1932. In 1930, Leica started making interchangeable lenses and that prompted many conversions. Both the camera and lens are marked "O" which signifies interchangeability of lenses.
The cosmetic condition is quite nice while displaying some age, patina and gentle use. The paint is in very nice shape with some beautiful and appropriate brassing on the top edges of the camera and on all the high points. The covering shows a bit of wear in front, I assume from rubbing against the leather case or reacting to the case...just a faint discoloration...with some wax or treatment, color likely will balance out. The beautiful nickel finished Elmar lens was recently CLA'd by Youxin Yye and is in good useable condition with really clear glass. There is a tiny wave to the rim edge located above the "f/4.5" marking on the lens...not bad at all...The camera works surpassingly well for its age. The shutter is working at all speeds and sounds good by ear although not tested. Curtain is in good shape, rangefinder aligns properly (spot a tiny bit weak but shows good separation when focusing) and the viewfinder is clear. Also includes a clean Leica Case in very nice shape. There is a film spool. You can tell this camera was well cared for the past 90+ years....
