My response to your contribution to Understanding probably should go in one of the philosophical threads, but I don't always see a clear dividing line between craft and philosophy. First of all : Thank you. Very interesting - and encouraging.
APUG hosts regular discussions/rants against the culture of "just fixing it in Photoshop". In the most recent incarnation, jd callow posted a reply that I thought spotlighted hybrid wisdom. He suggested (and I paraphrase) that as digital grows it might well move past the "you push the botton, PS does the rest" phase of its development. I see the research and discussions about how inks work, when and why, as counterparts to discussions about papers and developers. There will always be craftspersons who want to understand how things work as a means to personal expression and excellence. I'm just grateful I stumbled upon hybrid.com. You folks who are trying to really understand printers and digital negatives are much appreciated, and you are making enormous contributions.
