Today is my birthday and since my GF got me boots instead of a camera I'm stuck with a case of GAS .....

Really really really want a Bessa R4A/M with a 25mm 4/P

Someone talk me out of it!

(btw, the boots are really nice and I needed them for stomping around in the mud photographing, so I'm just using her for an excuse  )

  1. The power of GAS is infinite.
  2. You cannot resist the power of GAS.
  3. You have spent your adult life working to earn money for things others needed or wanted. Now is the time to do something for yourself. You deserve to have it. Buy it NOW!
  4. If you will get enjoyment owning and using it, buy it.
This advice is freely given. Enjoy!!

I find it funny that the A/M's are the same price ... asked Stephen G about it and he said "that's the set pricing, but if it makes you happy I can charge you more for an A" hehe

Happy birthday-- enjoy the new Bessa, whichever one you get. BTW, if you get one and feel guilty about it, send it to me(my b'day was Friday)and wish me a happy b'day.

I find this one works well for me, at least until I've overused it--then I have to let it rest for a while.

Congrats to the OP on the new Bessa (assuming you've already rationalized it and placed the order)! I've been looking at one of those (I've been looking at one of everything). :D

Well, after Saturday afternoon's storm, you should have plenty of mud to stomp around in. :D:D:D:D

Happy belated birthday.

Yes the storm here was bad ... couple of my neighbors had some large trees come down.

And no, I haven't ordered it.

Yet.

Enjoy the Bessa. FWIW...based on personal experience: you are experiencing the 1st of many RF GAS episodes. A fat wallet or high credit limit seems to be the best cure.

Best regards & happy bd,

Bob

Not my first go around ... I had (and lament selling) years ago a couple of M4-2's ... I just can't justify spending Leica money any more (some of the mystique wore off) -- that's not to say I don't love them, and if I had that kind of cash I would get one in a heartbeat, but ..... I do love the rangefinders.

I love my R4A, but use it mostly with the 28mm Color Skopar. Rarely use the 21mm or the 50mm - sometimes just to take them out of the house and give them some fresh air. Happy Birthday.

Course I could just buy a body and you could sell me that poor unused 21mm

Justify it by any means possible if you want it.... deal with the results later. :D Tell your girlfriend you had to buy it in order to use the gift she gave you!

Happy b-day!

Bah its my money I don't have to explain to her

Sounds like a good healthy relationship. Only a wuss would beg a girl/boy friend to spend the money they earned!

I'm the same though - pay the rent and 1/2 the food, what I do with the rest of my money is up to me.... and a good thing; she isn't into cameras - so I know she won't go sneaking off with what I buy for me.

Money is only worth what one can buy with it. With current interest rates, I would rather have a something physical like a camera or lens than a ton of money in my bank account where it sits and does nothing.
