I have a GREAT book of his.
I believe he was an early inspiration for Terry Donovan (RIP buddy)

Enlightening to see the manual retouching (pencil work, blades) he'd done on many of his original prints... most of his work was intended for magazine/newspapers....he evidently saw magazine/newspaper prints as the final stages of his work...not a darkroom purist at all.

I had seen his ear picture, but didn't know much about him. Really inspiring work. Makes me want to go further in the darkroom.
Thanks for sharing!

I'm not sure which one you're referring to, but I have a couple and think this one is definitely worth owning:

Bill Brandt: Shadow and Light is also a good one.

I wondered too. There is the Latin word subustare, but it makes no sense to me in this context.

Just move your right hand one key to the left while typing "sinister" and you get "subuster."

Another translation of "unheimlich" might be "uncanny."

I didn't intend it as a proper word...must be a combination of "surreal" and "sinister" or some other goof. My apologies.

But it makes perfectly sense now.
