Beware Unique Photo's Web Ordering System

I was ordering some chemistry and film from Unique and I noticed a little bait and switch in the online ordering system. They list E100 for $57 and change, so I added quantity 2 to my cart. If you go to page 2 of the check out system however, the price becomes $200.

I called and the sales person gave me a very "uh gee I don't know", and they did honor the web listed price, but of course when you call the shipping was double the web price. So basically nothing is standardized, and prices magically change.

I've had similar issues with them on other orders, you really have to watch your cart. In the past I would order the same quantity of chemistry and the shipping would change each time, often to astronomical rates that would be like 80% of the cost of the items.

FYI

I have noticed theyre site is wacky. If I check out, depending on what address its sent to, two homes in the same town, it might not charge me shipping, no taxes to one of them.

I order all of my color Kodak chemistry and paper from Unique Photo.
I've never had an issue after many orders, and have gotten very good service when I needed something and needed to call them.

If a business has a website that is not a level playing field, just go to another company.

Unfortunately, some of the products Unique Photo sells are simply not available anywhere else for some reason. (such as Kodak C-41 chemistry, in reasonable quantities.)

Had problems with them in the mid-90's, never used them again. There are much better companies to do biz with!

Unfortunate about the site. I live semi near to them. Have gone in a bunch of times. Always nice, helpful, and have better prices than b&h on a bunch of stuff.
