Not sure where to post this.

I posted a WTB ad for a MZ67 Pro II a few days ago.

I got an email via APUG from a member (audioman - post count 4 all in classified section) offering his camera. He says he is in Spain and if I am interested let him know and he will send photos.

It seemed fishy, but I thought let me make sure before I post here. So I send him an email telling him I am interested, send me photos.

He sends the photos and I recognize them from an ACTIVE ebay listing in Dalas Texas that I happen to be watching. He also says to make an offer and he only accepts bank wire transfer

So it would appear he is trolling the WTB section. Just a heads up.

Good catch!! Contact the eBay seller and have him switch out his pix for a day with some porn (Google "goatse" - Warning! NSFW!!!)! That should get some attention!!!

What's even more fishy is Audioman hasn't logged into APUG since the 17.12.2012 acccording to his profile.

I've had two emails from him via APUG in response to two WTB posts and am awaiting photos. Lets see what happens.

Damn, i got an message from the same guy for a Kirk L-Bracket for the mamiya 7 (I had a listing in the WTB section), which I have been looking for for ages now. Bummer. He too said he would send pics before an offer is made.

Thanks for the heads up. Someone should post a bogus listing. Like a camera that doesn't exist or something like that to see if he bites. Then call him on it.

Or better yet...ban his username.

He'll just create another username. Pointless. Better off letting him keep the one.

Scammers and spammers have made the internet nearly worthless. There needs to be an international treaty that any computer scammer found with a hole through his head is amnesty for the shooter.

I've noticed that lately your posts appear angry .

Thanks for the heads up. I have felt kind of mean the past couple days. Some wild animal out here in the woods killed my kitten. I'm scolding myself because I didn't grab my shotgun again and go bail him out again. I'm kind of kicking myself pretty hard about just sitting here listening to the noise of the animals tearing him apart, and doing nothing. I didn't know it was him being killed.
I'll back off. Thanks.

Thanks, we're also getting reports from individuals who have been contacted by this user. I've cc'd Sean, so he can be banned at the IP level.

I've moved this thread to the APUG Announcements forum, so that everyone can be aware of this problem. If this is a hijacked ID, there is no guarantee once this user is banned that he may not hijack some other seemingly dormant ID, so if everyone is aware of the form of the scam, you should be able to recognize it, if you see it.

Oh man. Sorry to hear that. Brutal. But did you say bail him out...again?

Yeah. In the 8 months since he came up out of the woods as a little starving kitten, I've used up more than a box of shells shooting animals who were after him. I even got a fox who actually came up on the porch where he slept one night, and got a picture of that fox dead, but I won't post it here. In bad taste. Yesterday it was a coyote that killed him, I think. And I just sat here listening to all the racket and did NOTHING. I just thought it was more pack dogs after another coyote. Where I live you can't get up and run to the door with a gun every time you hear one animal killing another.
So one slip-up, just one, and now that sweet little kitten is dead. Why am I telling all this? Sad day. I hope they don't ban me. Thx.
