Anyone familar with the Betax No.5 shutter? The speeds from T, B and 1/2 second are marked at exactly those intervals. The remaining speeds through 1/50th of a second have intermediate marks. Are these fractional speeds (ie splitting the difference between 1/25th and 1/50th? I tried them but could not tell any discernable difference - so wondered why these marks would be there.

Thanks and Happy New Year

Hi, if you take it apart you will find that the speed setting cam is a continuous curve with no steps in that range. So, theoretically you can get any in between speeds you want.

Thanks for the info - interesting design.

I will not be taking a working shutter apart - I am jinxed as well as mechanically challenged

I have waited ages to find this shutter at a reasonable price (Thanks Mid West Photo) to mount a lens I inhertited from a family member and not going spoil it now

Don't assume that this old shutter even remotely has accurate shutter speeds, even if it has been cleaned and serviced. You should have a technician make you a sheet showing marked shutter speeds and "actual" shutter speeds.
