If I build a UV exposure unit using 24 inch fluorescent lamps,
will that 24 inch width be enough to expose a 16 x 20 negative?
(I know the price of the components won't be better than
using 48" tubes, but I'm thinking in terms of saving space by
using a longer "column" of the shorter tubes.) And it's not
that I actually HAVE any 16 x 20 negatives yet, but I'd rather
build ONE unit that I wouldn't outgrow someday when my ship
comes in

Should be good to 16x20. If you use more tubes for a longer "column", you could even do 20x24 if your ship is larger than anticipated when it comes in. My exposure unit is twelve 24" tubes to save space.

okay, well that's good to know. I wasn't sure how close to the edge I could go and get an even exposure. And now that you mention it... yes, why not go for the 20 x 24 size.

:::: chanting::::: "if i build it, my ship will come. if i build it, my ship will come... if I ... "

thanks
