Best photo locations in Athens, Greece? Also, any underwater location?

What are the best photo locations in and around Athens, Greece? I will be shooting a wedding there and I would like to take some cool photos with the bride and groom!
Have you ever been there? What location was you favorite? Do you have any photos you can show us?

Also, any great underwater photo location close to Athens? Any islands which is easy to get to? I would love to have crystal clear water... I would like to take the couple underwater and make some cool underwater portraits....

You can't go wrong. Athens, the Corinth Canal, Sparta, Corfu on the west [island], Delphi, the Monasteries of Meteora, Trikala, the islands: Crete, Rhodes, Mykonos, Santorini, ...

In Athens the Acropolis, the Plaka, the Roman temple ruins at the base of the Acropolis, many tiny churches inside and out, the National Garden and Zappeio Park, Lykavittos Hill, and Kifissias Park. Outside of the Plaka Athens is a very modern city with tiny churches squeezed in anywhere.

Bring much more film than you think that you will need.

If my memory is accurate, the closest island on the boat from Piraeus is Poros, which is quite lovely and photogenic, about 90 minutes in the hydrofoil. We had a lovely time there six years ago.

Last time we were in Athens it was covered in graffiti, and I mean COVERED. It was very disturbing.

For a bride and groom I would go right up to the Acropolis, or visit one of the archeological parks nearby, which should give you lots of choices.

Not sure about the protocol but the Orthodox churches are absolutely stunning in their visual beauty. If you could work some of those in they are literally everywhere in Greece.

Update. I am here in Greece. They are really strict at Acropolis. I was there yesterday evening. You can only take photos as a "tourist". They mean it! I don't think it will work out there...
