I have limited funds but want to subscribe to 1 or 2 photo magazines. I shoot film with a little bit of digital and am more interested in looking at the photographs and learning from the settings used than detailed info about gear. I enjoy Popular Photography but it is becoming more digital than I need. Any suggestions? Thank you.

As name suggest only about B&W
Not much tech stuff, som D***** stuff but most about pictures.
I like it a lot. Must say that it hasn't lived up to my expectations 100% lately but may come down to my interests more than the actual quality of the mag.

Oh and how abot the mag called "Emulsion"? I havn't seen it but it's made by dedicated APUG'ers so it can't be all that bad

You might want to take a look at The Photo School in www.rogerandfrances.com. A lot of it is free, though of course if you then want to subscribe to the paid-for stuff as well, I won't complain. I've been writing for the photo press for around 30 years (and have several dozen books to my credit) and I decided to do my site this way because there's less and less in the magazines and books that suits my interests and knowledge -- though I also write for Shutterbug in the United States and have a weekly column in Amateur Photographer in England, and my wife Frances Schultz writes for the same Black and White that Soeren recommended.

I'll repeat the recommendations given here already - all of them.

I haven't paid Roger anything (yet), but if the "paid-for stuff" is as good as the free stuff, it's worth it.

And I subscibe to both of the magazines Søren suggested.

I took the existing recommendations for granted, and added mine without repeating the others. I endorse B+W (obviously) but haven't seen Emulsion.

Lenswork is a great mag for portfolios & interviews with the artists. Not so good if you're looking for technical info.
I allowed my subscripton to lapse because they were using more digital.
