What's the best focusing screen for an RB67. I have a matte screen now, and it's a bit of a challenge for me to obtain accurate focus. Would the microprism screen be better? I think that my screen is meant for a Pro-S, which is the model that I have.

depends on the lens, the amount of light and prescription of eye used

Some people can only use matt some only micro prism some only split

Try to find one to try in brick shop or other photographer

Neil,

I'm 74 with early age related macro degeneration. I have an RZ67 with mat screen that eventually I could not get good enough focus for 11x14 enlargements. I got an enhanced split screen and it helped for a while. I have found moving up in format has helped more.

Several years ago I was shooting 4x5 with an enhanced screen. I got to shoot with an 8x10 user. We shot an old sports car from several angles under a 20 foot soft box. Essentually we were doing the same shots around the car. After I had taken the first shot from head on he said what about the sand bag? I looked over and there was a sand bag by the wheel that I could not see in the 4x5 screen. I looked at his 8x10. It was like a lighted TV screen.

For the last 5-6 years I have shot 8x10 and 7x17. Last year I bought a Nikon 7100 with auto focus for small fast focus work. The good stuff is still done on the big film.

With extremely weak eyes from the intense eye strain work I did, I had to years ago buy a Beattie Intenscreen. It has helped me a lot in addition to using the clip on magnifier that fits the various prism finders. Not a cheap setup at all, but I had no choice shooting always in outdoor low light sunrise / sunset conditions.

I have a Beattie Intenscreen on my RB67 Pro SD. It's unreal. I found it on ebay, new for $80 including shipping to Australia.
It's a brilliant improvement.

Another vote for the Beattie Intenscreen. I no longer have the camera, but recall that it was brighter and easier to focus than the standard screen.

I like the split image rangefinder screen... It is spot on but does darken using slower lenses.

To really imorove brightness either a prism or the chimney finder are hard to beat.

If you change your screen, be sure to check the film plane to view focus?
