OK so it's not as bad as it sounds....I'm getting the 'wooden garden shed' custom built but it's not going to be very large.....I'd like a recommendation for an air purifier whilst I'm in there printing black and white prints mainly......thanks for the feedback! Sorry if I'm repeating the question.....

First off. Do you have a vented darkroom? An air purifier will help, but not a solution. For your own safety, you need to bring fresh air into your darkroom. That's my 2¢ worth.

You don't need a "purifier" but a good electrostatic air cleaner to capture dust is a good idea. A good ventilation system is a must have.

I used two 12"x12" Doran lightproof darkroom vents in my darkroom build. Where the vents were going to be installed, before the sheet rock was installed, I framed a 12"x12" box to hold a common 12"x12" furnace filter. On the outside wall I installed metal vent covers that are removable to be able to replace the filters easily. The darkroom door seals almost airtight, making the filtered vents the only air source. I also installed a quiet exhaust fan connected by a flexible hose to a length of plastic pipe with holes drilled into it at regular intervals that runs the length of my darkroom sink (10') and sits under a shelf. Result: good ventilation over the sink, which is replaced by filtered air through the vents.

I also have a filtered electrostatic cleaner to remove any dust that does sneak in; it just circulates air.

Maybe something similar will work for you.

Best,

Doremus

The fan doesn't have to be very big. I use a small 12V computer fan to exhaust air from my small darkroom. I don't use acidic fixer which keeps down the SO2 aroma. The fan is mounted on the upper corner, opposite the air intake which is at floor level (with filter).

My wife tried a lot of different air purifiers. I even don't want to count how much money we have spent on them. However, I understand that it is a very important for her hobby and always buy everything what she want. Last time, one year ago, she said that read about Ozone Generators and wants to try it, because they give very good results for a short time and are portable. I didn't hear about ot before and tried to google. Damage Control 911 provided me the most detailed information and exactly here we have found needed model. My wife is totally satisfied.
