i have a diana mini and i just wanted to know from all you lomoheads what the best *affordable* 35 mm film is.

Freestyle sells short dated Arista Premium in 20 roll bricks for about $1.50/roll. Doesn't come any cheaper than that.

Yeah, Arista Premium is Kodak Plus-X/Tri-X. If you want a sharper, somewhat less grainy film, Freestyle's Legacy Pro label is Fuji Neopan.

For color film, go to your local Walmart and pick up some Fuji Superia -- it's excellent stuff and will give you some latitude in exposure.

Ilford is running a sale of 35mm HP5, two for one, as I recall.

Ditto the praise for Freestyle's prices. They have some good deals on import color negative film too...most of the Fuji Superias hovering around $3/roll. For the Mini, Superia could produce some color tones that lend themselves well to the plastic camera ambiance.

Also try www.Ultrafineonline.com They have expired and short-dated film plus repackaged brand-name film for good prices.

I can usually get 35mm color print film in 4-packs at the local Walgreen's or CVS pharmacy for about $2.50 a roll.

Legacy Pro or Arista Premium...though for a Diana, even $2 a roll sounds expensive to me. Try finding something expired to the tune of 50 cents or a dollar a roll IMO.
