My Bessa L which I bought used and I have run probably 60 or so rolls through without issue recently started, not overlapping frames but the spacing is inconsistent, there will be a way larger gap than normal between frames and then no gap at all. I googled this and see some threads about something with the tension, it just being a cheap body, someone suggesting burning a hole through the spindle, (which I totally don't get). What should I do?

Can a repair shop help? I paid around 150 for the body and like the fact that it is so lightweight and has a meter, would rather not have to buy a screwmount leica body or spring for an m2 or 3.

It wont hurt asking. If its a camera you enjoy, then its worth repairing. I would imagine with the basis of these cameras being the Cosina CT1 a lot of parts are common, and available.

You can probably buy another one for a hundred bucks or so but supporting a repair shop is a good thing. I have the L with a 2,8cm Summaron and it’s an excellent shooter. It has a meter so I excuse the much much much much much lower quality and lack of rf compared to a Barnack. I can zone pretty accurately with a 28mm.

Thanks - I'll see how bad this next round of film is and then think about taking it in to a shop. I also zone pretty accurately with the avenon 28. and am getting better at stuff over 15 feet with an old collapsible summicron 50.
