hello.
can someone help me by confirming that a Dual Dichro S head will be compatible with a 23C III-XL frame assembly?
through searching these forums i have seen many are using the Dual Dichro S head with the 23C II system - want to make sure its also compatible with the III. The manual for the III system contains information about the 23CIII Dichro Color Head but i see no mention of the Dual Dichro S.
It also appears there are different lens boards required for the different beseler lenses - is this correct? i will need to obtain a 105mm lens for printing my 6x9 color negatives and it appears the 50mm lens board that came with my system will not work.
thanks so much for your help and information. i searched the forums before posting, i hope i didn't overlook my answer.
take care
Yes you will need a 105mm (or a 135mm) to print 6x9 negatives (2.25" x 3.25"). But the lens boards are the same - 4x4". Most lenses use 39mm retaining lens but some use 25mm or 55mm. Depends on the lens.
Interesting question on using the Dual Dichcro S on a 23c III. I really don't know. It SHOULD work. At worst case you may need a few parts.
The lensboards are 4"x4" as noted above. Same as for the Beseler 45. Different lens mount sizes and some have plexi light "pipes" to illuminate aperture. IIRC, there was also a version for early El Nikkor lenses that had a short threaded mount.
FYI, an Omega B negative carrier will fit the 23C (at least it does on my CIII). The rear tab on the B carrier will just barely clear the lower negative carrier support.
