Hi -

I was kindly given an enlarger by a gentleman from the APUG community last year (in mint condition). I'm finally setting up a make-shift darkroom in my apartment. The enlarger head is a Beseler dichro 67s. I understand this is a color head. I only shoot black and white, so I'm wondering if I should just pick up another enlarging head?? At this point, I'm used to using the enlargers that require you to put in an ilford filter, and I can't see how that is possible on the dichro. I don't know much about the differences. Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks!

Beseler builts enlargers of great quality. So you're very lucky to have one handed out to you just like that. And as already mentioned bt BainDarret it works great with multigrade paper. If I were you I wouldn't change a thing and just be very excited with the gift I was given. (Not saying you're not, of course )

PS you might wanna check the lens whether it's 50mm not 80/90mm or so. Since it's a 67 it is suitable for medium format (up to 6x7mm rolfilm) and may have been used for that only, in which case you might wanna try to find a more suitable lens. (Based on your profile where you stated you shoot 35mm film )
