Beseler color head stuck?

Have a Beseler 23 C series 2 with the color head. You can adjust the head height
it appears to be stripped. You can raise and lower the enlarger but, damn forget what its called-sorry-
the part to move for diff size negatives.
Is it normal with the color head installed or a part stripped? thanks

If you are talking about the upper bellows (above negative stage) is should be all the way down (compressed) with a color/dichro head in place. The adjustment part is used with the condenser head.

Once the color head is installed, it is bolted to the body with brackets and the adjuster knob is removed. If you have the knob and wish to revert to the condensor head, remove the two small brackets on the sides of the enlarger that afix the dichro head and lift it off. This will free the upper bellows to move, then set the condensor head on top and plug in. Oh yes, remove the diffuser from the filter drawer.
