Beseler 8x10 drum gap

I bought a Beseler 8x10 print drum that I intend to use to develop 4x5 film. It has the insert. I put a sheet of 4x5 in it to see how it fit. It has a pretty large gap between the film and the drum wall. I attached a picture showing the gap.
Is this correct? From what I read in other posts I thought the film would be touching the drum wall.

Looks about right, when I put a piece of 4x5 paper in the drum, there is an end gap of well over 4mm between the edge of the paper and the divider strip when I push the paper against the stop.

When it gets wet it will stick to the wall.

The gap looks about right to me, and it's never been a problem.

I can't find an appropriate thread for this without starting a new one, but I have a problem with my 8x10 drum. Two questions, I have three 11x14 drums and will use one of them to develop as I need to do some today ASAP.

First question, would I still use 60ml for ONE 8x10 in the 11x14 drum or should I use 120ml? Second question, is it possible to repair the front cap of the drum if it has become separated? Physically, I can definitely fix it, but would the glue that it would take contaminate the incoming chemicals?

For drums of the same type and diameter, the required solution volume is proportional to length.

Suppose the solution volume of the 8 x 10 drum is v1 and the solution volume of the 11 x 14 drum is v2, and the lengths are L1 = 8 and L2 = 11.

V2/V1= L2/L1, so

V2 = (L2/L1)*V1

If V1 =60ml, then

V2 = (11/8)*60ml = 82.5ml

The glue, once fully set, shouldnt react with the water solution of the processing solution. Getting a glue that forms a strong, waterproof repair of plastic is sometimes problematic.
