Beseler 67 series

I see a nice GLUT of print maker 67 on the interwebs, and even some 67XL on the interwebs for sale.

My questions are concise and varried.

1. How does one tell the age of the machine other than by logo? Any specific markings on the factory sticker?

2. If i can find a reasonably priced 67XL body, that needs a new lamphouse.. can I use a printmaker 67 lamp house on it?

3. There is a NICE article review on the jollinger website about the printmaker 67, they mentioned that the 67 dichroic color head needed timer settings of 30-60 seconds for 35mm negatives to be enlargered. But less then 30 seconds for medium format negatives.

Is this still true of the system... even though it is a condenser system based upon the factory manual showing it has two condenser lenses in the lamp house of both the condenser and dichroic color head?

I have a Beseler 67C that I bought new in the late 1970s.
I used it happily for years with a condenser head and below the lens filters.
In the mid 2000s, I acquired two different dichroic heads, two different power supplies, and a plethora of accessories.
The compatibility between versions is extensive, but not complete.
Beseler is still around and, with some patience and a willingness to use the telephone, they can answer a lot of questions.
FWIW, there are no condensers in my dichroic light sources - just changeable diffusion light boxes.
And the only serious compatibility issue I have ever encountered was when I tried to use the wrong power supply with one of the dichroic heads - pooft went the halogen lamp.

Note the single, fairly massive column - they haven't been built that way for some time.
One of the members here put together a glass carrier for the 67 series. For some, it might make a difference that Beseler never made one.

Interesting that your 67c/XL dichroic light heads are diffusion setups... id have sworn the manual i saw showed condensor lenses in them just like the PRINTMAKER 67.

The sellers have a hard time seperating the PRINTMAKER 67 from the BESELER 67 style with the heavy duty ribbed channel support..

official retailers do as well sometimes.


Its just that the 67 family fit the space i have available better then a 23c, but there be one guy selling a NEW in box 23c III XL in the original factory box, in the original ADORAMA shipping box for 800$ and its soooooo tempting.. but not needed.

now i just have to figure out how to get a replacement elevation crank handle...

well things have changed a might..

went to return it, seller decided to merely refund the purchase cost and have me keep it. Wasnt worth him purchasing a return label to send me.

SO the question is, as i have been waiting 2 weeks now for someone from beseler to help me out, with no luck, how does one repair a messed up 67 c?

its the 3 screws on the bottom model.

The head is at a nice angle at nearly full elevation

the elevation lock handle is missing screws adn an allen wrench to hook it onto the lock shaft

the lock mechanism seems to be damaged..
