My Beseler 45M has a sliding filter drawer right above the lens. This holds a filter of approximately 2.5 x 2.5 inches.

Can I use this for multigrade filters? Is there any optical issue with having a filter directly above the lends (as opposed to below the condenser as in some other models?)

Thanks! August

Isn't "directly above the lens" the same as "below the condenser"?

No, it is between the negative and the lens. If you are using gels you should have no problem

The drawer lies between the negative carrier and the lens. I've never had a problem using filters in this drawer.
