Beseler 23C-II lights out. Burned ?

Last night while I was printing on my Beseler 23CII Dichro Head, I heard a 'pop'... noise in my enlarger at one point and the enlarger lights went out. It did not turn back on anymore even though the timer has power.
I don't see much inside in terms of mechanism so I am guessing it is just the bulb that blew up. It is expensive, so I want to make sure I am on the right track. How do I make sure ? and if it is the light bulb, where do I get this special bulb ?.

test the bulb with a vom

Agreed. There isn't much to that enlarger, electrically speaking. It's just a lamp socket, some wire and an in-line switch. There just isn't that much to go wrong.

Just test the lamp. If it is open/burned out, replace it. 95% chance your problem is solved.

You can perform a test of the system by temporarily using a low-wattage light bulb. 5 watt or 15 watt, anything that fits in the socket. If that works, you're good to go. Buy a new lamp of the correct specs and you'll be back in business.

While you are ordering lamps, order two or three. Next time you have this problem, you won't be out of commission while you wait for the postman.

It's a dichro head. Just take the bulb out and look at it and you can see if it is burnt out. However, don't use your bare hands to touch the bulb, because the skin oils can cause the halogen bulb to burn out. Same precautions with the new bulb.

If you are also using the Stabilized Power supply with the Dichro Head .... then check the fuse !
